Wayne Skyler

Wayne Skyler is an elected member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society, the Garden State Watercolor Society and the Essex Watercolor Club. He is also a member of several other local art associations. He recently retired as Chief of the Illustration/Graphics Unit for the U.S. Army Research & Development Center at Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, NJ. He has studied under Joseph Rossi, AWS and Lucille Hobby and is a graduate of the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art.

His works have been exhibited in the Juried International Watercolor Exhibit in London, England, winning an award of merit. He has exhibited in the Mystic Marine Art International Juried Exhibit in Mystic, CT. He has exhibited in many tri-state exhibitions including the Allied Artists of America, New Jersey Watercolor Society Juried exhibitions, Garden State Watercolor Society exhibitions, the Papermill Playouse Gallery, and many other statwide and local exhibits. Awards include the Grumbacher Gold Medal for Artistic Achievement, the Windsor Newton Award for Artistic Achievement, several best in show awards and many ribbons and medals at various statewide and local exhibits.

Published work is represented in Rockport Publishers "Painting Color" one of four hardcover editions in their "Best of Watercolor" series and also in the hardcover edition of "Watercolor Expressions" from Rockport Publishers.

His watercolors of the many urban and rural landmarks and landscapes, depict everyday life in the NY, NJ and PA area (both past and present). His works are included in many corporate and private collections.
